Hike 37
September 3, 2013
This was my first hike back from a vacation to Maine. I felt relaxed and happy.
Starting from the Bear Valley Visitor Center, I walked Bear Valley trail toward Arch Rock.
Douglas fir stumps stood tall and straight.
At the Baldy trail intersection, 3.1 miles from the Visitor Center, there were bike racks.
Baldy trail narrowed and headed up steeply. Sunlight filtered softly through Douglas fir forest.
Occasional splashes of sunny yellow flowers caught my eye.
Toward the top, glimpses of the Pacific ocean showed cool blue through lush green.
At Sky trail, I turned around and headed back down Baldy trail.
Nature displayed her sculpture of tree, fungus, leaves and light.
White clouds were puffy-perfect, floating above the tree line in bright blue skies. It was good to be back on the trail.
