Purpose of the human animal.
What is the purpose of the human animal?
Humans have a place on this earth as a species. When we look at the world, it is easy to see we have lost our sense of it. We spread all over the globe and are fixated on the needs, purpose, and suffering of each individual human. This has us staring at each other to the exclusion of the myriad other species with whom we share the planet.
This myopic focus on the internal workings of the human spirit creates conflict within the human organism as a species, which results in problems for our individual selves and for our non-human co-habitators (the environment).
Our place and spirit as a species
In the taxonomy of life, each organism is identified only once. There is one Eschscholzia californica (California poppy), one Ursus americanus (American black bear), and one Homo sapiens (human).
When working with the California poppy essence to align my sense of purpose, I am working with the essence of the species versus the essence of one particular poppy.
As we can characterize the poppy species’ essence or the bear species’ spirit, so we can do this for the human species.
I’m proposing that each of us heals our part of the human spirit so we can turn outward to rediscover our natural place on the planet. Poppy and bear spirit lend their wisdom while patiently waiting for us to get ourselves together and remember who we are.
Purpose of the human animal
Once we calm down and resume our place among the other creatures of the planet, we can fulfill the human purpose, which is to grow and evolve in balance with the rest of nature.
